Michelle Compton

Co-Owner/Manager/Licensed Settlement Agent

As a Co-Owner and Manager of Madison Hagerstown, Michelle Compton brings to the company over 25 years of experience in the Hagerstown/Martinsburg region as a paralegal and real estate professional. She developed a taste for the legal professional and, in particular, the real estate field while working at a law firm in the summer before her senior year of high school. After graduating, Michelle continued to hone her real estate skills, working full time during the day and attending college in the evening. In 1989, Michelle moved back to West Virginia after college and was hired by the Senior Partner in the law firm of Avey and Steptoe, a real estate and business practice firm. Under his tutelage, she was trained in all aspects of the real estate industry and became “hooked” on the complexity of the real estate transaction and solving the “puzzle” that went along with each individual parcel. The law firm subsequently merged with a related Charlestown, West Virginia firm and became Steptoe & Johnson. During her 11-year tenure with the firm, Michelle was promoted to the Office Manager position, where she managed the firm’s three office locations in Martinsburg, Charles Town and Hagerstown.

Prior to joining Madison Settlement Services earlier this year, Michelle served as Production Manager at Olde Town Title in Hagerstown, where she was employed for ten years. In that capacity, Michelle gained extensive experience and knowledge in all aspects of the settlement process.

Among her many hobbies, Michelle enjoys target shooting, auctions, football, jet skiing, watching movies, and cruising in the vintage cars that she shares with her husband of 18 years. Together, the couple has dedicated many hours of time and service to Habitat for Humanity of Washington County over the past two decades. In her spare time, Michelle, who is a certified pistol instructor, also conducts handgun safety and training classes.

Known for bringing the same enthusiasm and high-energy approach to the job as she does to her off-duty hours, Michelle states that providing high quality title and settlement services brings her a great deal of satisfaction. “I love to see the look of excitement and the smile on the face of a new homeowner when they get the keys to their first home!” she states. “No matter the size of the transaction, whether it’s a $50,000 deal or $1,000,000 deal, everyone deserves unparalleled service and attention to detail, because they are purchasing their dream home. I look forward to serving the needs of real estate professionals and home owners in the Hagerstown region in my new position with Madison Settlement Services!”
